Louis Eksteen

Loius is the current curator of Fort Amiel museum since May 2003. He has a BA degree in cultural history from the University of Pretoria. He has a deep interest history of the region and particularly the first Anglo Boer War. His research into the history of the northern Natal area and the First Boer War has unearthed considerable information.

He is a member of the Monte Stanco Moth Shellhole and of the Dundee Diehard re-enactment group.

Mlambo, Bongani

Bongani Mlambo

Based in Eshowe, Bongani guides visitors to historical and cultural sites in Zululand. These include some of the more unusual sites of Mandawe Cross, King Ceteswayo Monument, Nandi’s Grave, Cowards Bush and Dlinza forest.

His tours which focus on detailed story telling, historical context and linking events across the Anglo Zulu war landscape give visitors an in depth view of the military movements through this part of Zululand. His tours include the story and sites of the Siege of Eshowe, Fort Nonquai and the battlefields of Nyezane and Ginginhlovu.
